Nine direct drivers and 10 underlying causes of deforestation and forest degradation are identified in Nepal. Direct drivers include unsustainable harvesting, forest fire, infrastructure development, over grazing, encroachment, expansion of invasive species, mining/excavation, weak law enforcement and urbanization/resettlement.
